Answer:

a.    Four means of transport are - Waterways, Roadways, Railways, and Airways.

b. The activities practiced by rural people are mainly primary activities; which include - Agriculture, Pastoral activities, Fishing, Mining, Extracting and gathering. Other activities practiced by rural people are like trading of products related to primary activities, services related to primary activities, etc.

c.    These merits are -

1. Quick means of transport

2. Carrier of bulk goods over long distances at a cheap rate.

d. Mass media is the medium of communication to the masses which include - print media, radio, and television.

Question.4: Give reasons: Today’s world is shrinking.

Answer: “Today’s world is shrinking” is said correctly because of the following reasons:

1. Airways have become popular as more and more people are using aeroplane to travel far distances. This reduces the time of journey considerably. 
2.  Means of communications have reduced both distances and time. We can talk, see and interact with people sitting thousands of kilometers away in seconds. 
3. We can complete so many jobs including business settlements in seconds by virtue of super fast means of communications like internet, mobile phone etc.
